WaACRAO 2026 Conference IMPORTANT UPDATE

The WaACRAO Board has made the difficult decision to cancel the WaACRAO 2026 conference due to the state of emergency arising from the Spokane Complex Fire disaster.

All registrants will receive a refund of your registration fees through Eventbrite. If you made hotel reservations at our partner hotel the Hilton Doubletree, please call 1 (800)757-6131 as soon as possible to cancel your reservation at no charge.

Our hearts go out to everyone in the Spokane community and across Eastern Washington who have been impacted by these disastrous wildfires. The City of Spokane has designated a wildfire relief fund that is accepting donations to support impacted individuals, and secure donations may be made through the city’s website. The local eastern Washington & North Idaho community foundation Innovia is also accepting donations at https://innovia.org/wildfire-response/

We are saddened that we will not be able to gather in person this week but feel that safety must be prioritized. In lieu of an in person gathering, WaACRAO is pleased to host an abbreviated online program on Thursday afternoon from 2:30-4pm, at no cost. We will share brief updates from the WaACRAO Board, hear a talk from our AACRAO liaison, and enjoy a special online edition of “Ask the FERPA Professor” with University of Washington Registrar Helen B. Garrett.  More information and a Zoom invitation to come!

We plan to reschedule our conference in Spokane next year at WaACRAO 2027. We look forward to seeing you in person then.

Creating and Implementing Standardized Scheduling guidelines for Student Success

In 2025, CWU's Office of the Registrar was brought into conversations to devise and implement scheduling guidelines to improve access and predictability in the academic schedule for students. Over the course of 9 months, this project went from discussions and consultation, to collaboration, to implementation. Over the course of this presentation, you'll hear the good, bad, and the confusing that came out of this initiative.

The Enrollment Ecosystem Under Pressure

Enrollment teams are carrying a lot right now that isn't showing up in strategic plans. This facilitated conversation for people who want an honest hour with colleagues facing the same pressures. We will seed the discussion with what's structurally breaking in your shop, what you're actually building to address it, where your single points of failure are, what you're doing about pipelines that don't look like they used to. The conversation will go where the room takes it. That's the point.
